Dr. Charles Drago Kato

Technical Lead for Uganda in STOP Spillover’s Surveillance, Mapping, and Modeling Hub

Dr. Charles Drago Kato is a lecturer in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and Immunology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Dr. Kato is the Technical Lead for Uganda in STOP Spillover’s Surveillance, Mapping, and Modeling Hub. He has a decade of experience in infectious and zoonotic disease One Health systems, surveillance, and research spanning human, livestock, wildlife, and environment sectors. Dr. Kato has a Ph.D. in Molecular Epidemiology and Immunology from Makerere University, a master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Makerere University and another master’s degree in Bioinformatics from the University of London.
